Pollution is getting really bad today. The air is filled with bad gases;burning fuels, carbon dioxide, insufficient oxygen, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrocarbons, and carbon monoxide.Carbon Monoxide is a very poisonous gas.It shortens the life of humans and animals.Humans breathe in the pollution and it gets into their lungs. Then,it puts stress on the heart. That is how many people get heart disease. It affects animals in the same way.
If we try to make pollution stop, the air can get cleaner. God put us here for a reason,to look after the Earth, plants and animals. If we are destroying it then we are disobeying Him. In the Bible it explains this,"Let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea ,and the birds of the air and, over the cattle ,and over every creeping creature among the Earth." Genesis 1:26. If humans are selfish and don't think about the planet and every living thing on it,we will have a disaster. We need to be smart and make the air cleaner. We need to do the job that God gave us.
The main sources of air pollution are cars, electric power plants, and dumps. We need to follow God's Word.We can't eliminate all pollution, since we are the source of the pollution. We can all make an effort to change things in our own lives.
Here is how I can stop pollution. I will not use unnecessary power. I can ride my bike instead of a car if my destination is not far away. I can spread the word and let other people know about what is happening to the environment.I hope that others will join me and help out.

Stray's Prayer
A Stray's Prayer:
"Dear God, please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair.
My body is aching, it's so racked with pain,
and dear God I pray, as I run in the rain.
That someone will love me and give me a home,
a warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.
My last owner tied me all day in the yard
Sometimes with no water, and that was hard.
So I chewed my leash, and I ran away.
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now I'm tired and hungry and cold,
and I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.
They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones,
while I run the streets just looking for bones!
I'm not really bad, please help if you can,
or I have become just a 'Victim of Man!'
I'm wormy and I'm ridden with fleas,
and all that I want is an Owner to please!
If you find one for me , I'll try to be good,
and I won't chew their shoes, and I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, protect them and try to obey....
when they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!
I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.
Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
cause I'm so afraid that I'm gonna die.
And I've got so much love and devotion to give,
that I should be given a new chance to Live!
So dear God, please answer my prayer,
and send me someone who will REALLY care"

Family Dog
The family's dog was bought to guard. Chained to a post in a chilly backyard.Housed in a shed that was airless and dark, and every few weeks had a run in the park. When boredom set in with no fun and work,One day it broke loose and went quietly berserk.Pa couldn't fathom just why it went wild.As it flattened his wife and then bit his child. The police were called to sort out the mess. And the whole sorry story was revealed in the press. The rescue society was really annoyed,So the dog was re-homed, and the owners destroyed.
This poem tells how bad chaining a dog is. You should take care of it properly. What's the sense in having a dog if you have it in the backyard or in the garage chained? Please be respectful to your dog, community, and neighbors and take care of your dog the correct way. Poem found at http://www.wolfweb.com/

Look me over!!!
You should look over your new companion before you make your decision. You want to make sure you get a healthy pet. Here are some things to look for when you are buying from a breeder.
1.The puppy's eyes should be clear,no discharge or excessive tearing.
2.The coat should be shiny,no hair loss, sores,or redness.
3.The ears should be clean. If you see the pup shaking his head or pawing his ears he probably has ear mites.
4.There should be no discharge from the nose.Beware of dogs that are coughing or sneezing.
5.Do a flea check.
6.Pup's gums should be pink and his teeth should be straight.
7.Diarrhea is a bad sign. Make sure there is no diarrhea around.

Amazing Gracie
I have finished the book Amazing Gracie.Written by Mark Beckloff and Dan Dye. This is a true story. It is 247 pages long. Here is a little bit about the book:
Gracie was a half-blind and fully deaf Great Dane. She was the only puppy left and was going to b e put down because no one liked her, even her mother didn't like her. When Dan Dye heard about her at work from his friend at work,he went to go check her out. She came right up to him as if she was begging him to take her home. He said that he would take her. The breeder was trying to get hm not to buy her because of her problems, but he didn't care.He brought her home and "the girls" a dalmatian and a black lab didn't get along with her. They kept trying to hurt her. Mark showed them who was boss and they stopped and became best friends. Gracie became "one of the girls." Then Gracie became picky and wouldn't eat.she was becoming really skinny. When Dan's friend from work said that he should make homemade dog food,he thought it was a good idea, but one problem he didn't know how to cook. After a lot of practice he became a great chef for the girls. Dan's friend Mark suggested that they make a dog bakery together. Dan was shocked, but then noticed that this was a good idea. So they bought an old bakery that no one was using. It had all of the tools that are needed for baking built-in. They named it the Three Dog Bakery. Some people thought they were crazy by making a bakery for dogs. At the same time people thought it was a great idea.Once there was this little deaf boy.Gracie layed on the floor and comforted him,she was making a weird humming sound too. The boy's mother was crying because it was so sweet. Gracie became old and had a hard time walking. She had to throw herself down in order to lay on the floor. When she could no longer walk the vet came to put her down. She died at age 10. The vet had been with her from the start and called her a little miracle and a little miracle she was. They got a new Great Dane named Claire she was half-blind and deaf also. She had a little bit of time with Gracie and was sad about her. She tried to play with Gracie and realized she was gone. Claire gave Gracie the toy they played with together.
I enjoyed this book because it tells how a dog with so many problems can make things change in a lonely person's life.It also tells about the companionship between man and dog,Man's Best Friend.

Psalm 23-A Psalm of David
I have been studying the Psalms in Bible. This is the Psalm of trust. It is one of the most loved Psalm.
Psalm 23
The Divine Shepherd. A Psalm of David.
The Lord is my Shepherd,i shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;he leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul.
He leads me in the right paths for his names sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley I fear no evil;for you are with me; your rod and your staff-they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
In this Psalm, David is telling God that he is the lamb and God is the shepherd. God watches over him and makes sure that he is safe. God leads him to the right path. David doesn't have to fear evil because God is with him. He can go through the darkest valley and still have no fear.
When I read this Psalm, I feel safe knowing God is with me too.
The Last Dog On Earth
I just finished reading the book The Last Dog On Earth. It is 233 pages long. The author is Daniel Ehrenhaft. I enjoyed this book because it was full of action. It also showed how an ugly mutt/shelter dog ,can change someones life and the world. Here is a little bit about the book.
Logan Moore is always getting made fun of and no one really likes him. His step dad, Robert, is mean to him. One day Logan tried one of his inventions at the Wallace's house, a rich family on the block, and it broke many of their things. Mr. Wallace and Robert were mad at him. Robert said that taking on the responsibility of a dog would be his punishment.
Robert wanted purebred Chocolate Lab like the Wallace's but Logan didn't. He wanted to save a life at the shelter. Without discussing it with Robert, Logan's mom took him to the shelter to pick out a dog. He was looking at the dogs and there was an ugly, crazy dog. She couldn't find a home because she didn't like anyone, until Logan. He named her Jack because Robert wanted a boy dog and he wanted it to be named Jack. She wasn't a boy,but her name stayed the same. Logan borrowed a lot of books from the library on how to train dogs. He trained her well. All though she ruined all of Robert's stuff and urinated in his bathroom. Robert didn't like Jack at all. He threw a big fit about her.
There was a terrible disease going around the town. It was called POS otherwise known as Phsycotic Outburst Syndrome. Every dog was catching this disease. When they would become infected they would just lay there until disturbed. Then they would stumble and would begin to foam at the mouth. After that, blood would start to drip out of their mouths because they were bloodthirsty. Then they would attack. What was worse humans could contract this disease too. If a human was bit they would have to go straight to the hospital. All the people could do was shoot the dogs. They even had lessons on how to do it properly.
Logan and Jack were at the store and the store manager made his diseased dog attack them. Logan exploded a spray in the microwave to stop the dog. The manager called Robert and he was furious. Logan was sent to Boot Camp and had to leave Jack behind. The people at Boot Camp were mean and were getting him into trouble. They were called maggots. Logan ran away as soon as he could. While Logan was gone,Jack was kept in the basement . She was starving .She dug out of the basement and ran 40 miles to see Logan. Jack was attacked by two dogs. Both dogs were infected with POS. She was seriously injured, but didn't catch POS. Logan's real Dad,Dr. Westerly, found them and took them to his place. He was a scientist and tested Jack for POS and found out she was immune. She was the only dog that was immune and were able to make a cure from her. Jack was almost shot by Rudolph Stagg, a diseased human, but Logan dived in front of the gun and was shot. He went to the hospital to recover. A few days later Rudolph Stagg died from POS. They couldn't heal Jack's wounds because she was so injured. When Logan recovered they had to put Jack down.
In the story, Jack was a hero to all of the people and dogs. Logan was sad to see Jack go. He said he would never forget her and for the first time in along time he was able to cry. Jack was only one year old when she died. They made a cure and everyone was healed.

The German Shepherd
A military dog in training.
Looks like this guy is doing his job.
A Geman Shepherd Puppy. The German Shepherd dog belongs in the working group. It is a great guard dog and a perfect companion. They are very strong and well proportioned. Their ears are pointed straight up,but as puppies the ears may be a little floppy. They have long bushy tails. The breed has three types of coats; rough-coated, long-haired, and long rough coated. The colors are usually black and tan, sable,or all black.White color is a fault at the dog show and these white shepherds are known as the American White Shepherd. These dogs are fearless and always alert, but at the same time obedient and happy.German Sheperds love their families, but may be aware of strangers. For this reason, they need a family that will be with them a lot. They usually only bark when they feel danger is near. They are often used as police dogs. As with all dogs, they should be correctly socialized in puppy hood. Attacks and aggression are usually due to poor handling and training. You HAVE to be the dominant one when you have a German Shepherd. They are known to be good with other pets and children. They are energetic and need daily exercise. Males get 24-26 inches in height.Females 22-24 inches in height. Both genders weigh about 77-85 pounds. 13 years is the life expectancy.

The Rescue
This poem is found@ http://www.scarshelter.com/
Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.I felt her need instantly and new I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not to exuberantly,so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage.I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get to busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in some one's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the kennel to comfort her. gentle fingertips caressed the side of my neck, she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked out of their kennels. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today!!

Buttercup
Buttercup is my Cockatiel. She is a fun little bird. She loves to come out and just sit on my shoulder. She is very lovable. She doesn't know how to talk, but that is the way some female birds are. She says "tweet". B and I bought her with our own money when we first moved to HI. She is my first bird and I have had a great time with her. I never knew a bird could be so much fun.

No Fur Please!!!!!
Did you know that up to 15 beavers, 25 foxes, 35 raccoons, 40 minks, or 50 muskrats are killed to make just one fur coat!!!!!
Beavers are close to endangerment or extinction because of this cruelty. Beavers help people by building their dams to stop erosion. People put traps in the water and then when they come out of their dams, where they live, they drown and are then used to make clothes.
Some animals, such as domestic dogs and cats, are killed for their pelts in China. They knock their heads on the concrete and are killed to make collars and trim, toys, glove linings, and sometimes cat toys. Two 2 million cats and dogs are killed for fur every year. That is a lot of animals. So ask your store if their clothes are made out of fur. If they say yes, DON'T buy their products.
Help these animals who didn't do anything to be able to live a happy life.
Thanks!!!!

10 ways to stop Pit bull fighting
"Hey, we need help."Dog fighting is considered a "sport" to many people. Many pit bulls die from this cruel"sport". We need to make a difference here are 10 ways to help stop this.
1.Support stronger laws.
2. If you see dog fighting, contact a local newspaper or television station to report about it.
3. Write your local law enforcement and tell them they should start investigating dog fighting and make it a priority. Dog fighting is a crime and it should be investigated by the police!
4. If there is someone in your neighborhood trying to fight dogs, contact the police or animal control and give them as much information as possible.
5. Protect your pets from being stolen and brought into the fights.
6. Adopt a pit bull and save his/her life. These dogs make perfect companions.
7. Set a good example to others, tell them how great pit bulls are. Tell them how to properly care for them.
8. Volunteer at your local shelter.
9. Educate others about dog fighting.
10. Teach children about stopping this cruel"sport".
Thank You for making a difference today for a better world tomorrow!

The Cockatiel
I figured I would write a little bit about something different. I have a bird named Buttercup and she is a cockatiel. I will post about her later. I am going to write about her breed of bird, the Cockatiel.Cockatiels live wild in Australia from which they originated from. They are classified as a small cockatoo. They are sweet tempered and are very playful if tame. They can live as long as 30 years. They should be talked to, handled and played with everyday to be healthy. Cockatiels come in a variety of colors the dull feathers are female and the bright are male. They can be taught to speak and imitate things, males are best at this. They can preform tricks also. These birds are fun. My Cockatiel is fun and she is so sweet. I have enjoyed her.

Who's That Dog?
I am pretty sure this is the dog.
One day I was reading my book called The Encyclopedia Of Dogs. Wally decided that this book was the book he needed to find his breed. I came in the room and he was on my book looking at it. I grabbed my camera and took some pictures. It was so funny. He must think he is a Jack Russel Terrier because that is the dog he was looking at. That is not his breed, but I guess he thought he would check it out. I guess dogs do read.

The Great Dane
Grace Dane the founder of The Three Dog Bakery.
A Great Dane Puppy.
A Great Dane compared to a Chihuahua. The Great Dane is known as a gentle giant. These dogs are strong, but elegant and have a great personality. They are energetic dogs and are great for families. Like all dogs, they should be supervised around small dogs and young children. They don't require a lot of grooming because they have short hair but giving this dog a bath can be a CHORE. They are working dogs in the AKC. Males are 30 inches tall and females are 28 inches tall. They are good guard dogs, but shouldn't be used only for guarding. This breed NEEDS to be with humans. These dogs are never timid or aggressive. They are playful and patient with children. Adult males can weigh 120 pounds to 200 pounds and females 100-130 pounds. They shouldn't be ran with until they are at least 1 year old because they can suffer from hip displaysia. They can also suffer from bloat, heart disease, tumors and tail injuries. The Great Dane will do well in an apartment if exercised everyday. They are usually best with a large yard though. Most Danes live to be under 10 years old,but if cared for properly and no health problems they can live to as old as 12-13 years old. This breed will be good a good choice if your family has older kids because of the dog's size.

End Horse Slaughter!!!!
"Help Us!!!"Most horses that are at auctions or are sold to auctions aren't finding good homes as one may expect. These horses usually go to slaughter houses. People go to auctions to look for beautiful horses to slaughter so they can get a lot of money!!!! So cruel!!!!! The slaughter person will load as many horses as they can fit in a trailer. They are crammed in there. Once they are loaded in the truck they remain there with no food, water,or rest for a period of time. They are forced to stand in an unnatural position and can't maintain their balance. At the plant they are loaded into crowded pens. Pregnant horses usually don't survive because they don't have the proper nutritional needs. Then they slaughter them for meat. How can people do this to such graceful and beautiful animals? I have no clue. I am telling you not to give your horse to an auctioneer even if they seem like they will find a good home. These auctioneers don't know where the horses will go. They just expect that they are going to a good home. We don't want these animals to become endangered or even worse extinct. Could you imagine? What would be a world without horses. We need to protect them as well as other animals. Read more at http://www.humanesociety.org/ the HSUS.

Dog Mischief
Bad Girl.JPG)
The African Grey"Cisco."
Trying to get in there.
We were pet sitting birds for a friend of my dad. Roxy got into a little mischief. She always likes to chase birds and actually tries to hunt them. She was trying to do that when the bird was in the cage. When my dad's friend was watching her for us, she actually got a hold of their African Grey, Cisco. I am happy to report the bird was okay. Here are some pictures of her trying to get to Sunny. What a bad girl.
